Follow-up
Different screening methods require different types of follow-up. The indicates the test(s) with the least amount of post-procedure followup.
Colonoscopy
- If results are abnormal, no further testing is needed.
- A diagnosis is made during the colonoscopy and polyps are removed, if needed.
Virtual Colonoscopy
- If results are abnormal, you would need to have a colonoscopy.
- The colonoscopy might be performed on the same day.
Flexible Sigmoidoscopy
- If results are abnormal, you would need to have a colonoscopy.
Barium Enema
- If results are abnormal, you would need to have a colonoscopy.
FOBT
- If results are abnormal, you would need to have a colonoscopy.
Stool DNA Test
- If results are abnormal, you would need to have a colonoscopy.
