Follow-up

Different screening methods require different types of follow-up. The alt indicates the test(s) with the least amount of post-procedure followup.


altColonoscopy

  • If results are abnormal, no further testing is needed.
  • A diagnosis is made during the colonoscopy and polyps are removed, if needed.

altVirtual Colonoscopy

  • If results are abnormal, you would need to have a colonoscopy.
  • The colonoscopy might be performed on the same day.

altFlexible Sigmoidoscopy

  • If results are abnormal, you would need to have a colonoscopy.

altBarium Enema

  • If results are abnormal, you would need to have a colonoscopy.

altFOBT

  • If results are abnormal, you would need to have a colonoscopy.

altStool DNA Test

  • If results are abnormal, you would need to have a colonoscopy.
